For the first two years at Be Fed, we have been learning from scratch the best ways to till land. Our farmer Pieter had been generous enough to help us in the first two years till the land to prepare for seeding. At first we were attempting to use big farming equipment, but with where we are starting, we realized a smaller tiller would do for now.

In 2024, we rented a tiller from Home Depot for the day, came out here, and tried it ourselves for the first time ever. The machinery is generally intuitive to use, yet kicks every now and then so we recommend someone strong to manage the equipment. On the plot we're on, it took around 1 hour to prep the land for compost.

Through donations, we have been able to rent better equipment and test new methods. We are still trying to perfect different things within the garden, but with your help we are becoming more efficient as independent gardeners. Because of this, we have expanded the garden size to welcome cabbage, carrots, beets, peppers, and more. You can check out our reviews on social media.
